LIV Golf, Saudi Arabia, and Islamophobia on the 40/40 Vision Podcast

I recently joined 40/40 Vision Podcast host Khaled Abdallah to discuss LIV Golf, Saudi Arabia, and the potential role Islamophobia has played in the public and media reaction to the biggest golf story of the year. Check out the episode and follow the brothers at the 40/40 pod for entertaining and informative new and historical sports content:

On this episode of The 40/40 Vision Podcast, we welcome Amaar Burton, Founder of MuslimSportsTalk.com and Copy Editor at The Ringer to discuss the Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf merger with the PGA Tour. We discuss LIV Golf’s motivations in taking on the PGA, if their approach was sustainable, how the PGA weaponized Islamophobia against LIV Golf, and why they ultimately decided to give up the fight.

We explore the complicated relationship between Saudi Arabia and these sports entities, their foray into the soccer world, and whether or not the accusations of sports-washing are accurate. This was a great conversation that spanned sports, world politics, social justice, and much more as we continue to deep dive into a sports story that sits at the intersection of all these hugely important topics.
